Document transcription includes an explanation of the document, a summary, and details of any genealogical information found within the document.
can you look up a document for me at the bc archives?
Yes, I have a special reduced rate for looking up records at the Archives of $35 / hour. As I am located in Victoria, I do not charge travel costs.
how much do you charge for a 2-page will?
It is extremely difficult to estimate the charge for transcribing documents. Please send me the best copy you have of the document and I will provide you with a quote.
how can you help with heraldry?
Coats of arms can provide valuable genealogical clues to guide you in further directions for your genealogical research
What kind of documents do you transcribe?
As well as birth, marriage and death records, genealogy information can often be found in manorial records, church records (such as baptism or meeting minutes), deeds and court records. All of these may be transcribed.
CAN You transcribe foreign language documents2?
I can transcribe birth, baptism, marriage and death records for Norway and Sweden. However, more complicated records should be sent to a specialist in those languages.
What about latin?
Basic Latin documents relating to genealogy can be transcribed. Many of these documents are a very standard format and it is often better to request information extraction rather than a full transcription.
What is the cost of training?
Training costs are based on the number of people, the location and the topic. I am happy to set up one-on-one training, or provide and in-person or zoom training session. Please contact me for specific pricing.
